چکیده

In this study, a three-dimensional Direct Numerical Simulation of an open turbulent jet spray flame has been used to investigate the statistical behaviour displacement speed Sd and its components provide physical explanations for observed behaviours at different axial locations downstream exit. The exhibits fuel-lean conditions close exit but fuel-rich have further due evaporation fuel droplets. For considered, combustion takes place under low Damköhler number conditions. reaction progress variable isosurfaces shows qualitatively similar all considered – predominantly positive across major part with small, potentially negative, values towards burned-gas-side. arising from chemical rate normal molecular diffusion remain leading order contributors competition between these determines mean speed. These observations are consistent studies flames in canonical configurations premixed stratified flames. This suggests that flow geometry absence curvature might not be important determining components. Therefore, modelling methodologies employed can extended However, methodologies, which implicitly assume equality surface-weighted density-weighted local laminar burning velocity, rendered invalid

An LES/PDF study of a turbulent lifted ethylene jet flame in a heated coflow

We report a large-eddy simulation (LES)/probability density function (PDF) modeling study of a turbulent lifted ethylene jet flame in a heated air coflow, using a 22-species reduced chemical mechanism. In this flame, the central ethylene jet is ignited by the heated coflow, and the lifted jet flame base stabilization reaches a statistically stationary state. In this LES/PDF study, the filtered ...

Lagrangian statistics across the turbulent-nonturbulent interface in a turbulent plane jet.

Lagrangian statistics from millions of particles are used to study the turbulent entrainment mechanism in a direct numerical simulation of a turbulent plane jet at Re(λ) ≈ 110. The particles (tracers) are initially seeded at the irrotational region of the jet near the turbulent shear layer and are followed as they are drawn into the turbulent region across the turbulent-nonturbulent interface (...

Temperature, Oxygen, and Soot-Volume- Fraction Measurements in a Turbulent C2H4-Fueled Jet Flame

We present a detailed set of measurements from a piloted, sooting, turbulent C2H4fueled diffusion flame. Hybrid femtosecond/picosecond coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) is used to monitor temperature and oxygen, while laser-induced incandescence (LII) is applied for imaging of the soot volume fraction in the challenging jet-flame environment at Reynolds number, Re = 20,000. Single-la...
